About us:
JOWA Health Specialized Laboratory (JHSL) is a fully accredited laboratory by the Ministry of Health (MoH) Uganda and is one of the few laboratories nationwide authorized to conduct COVID-19 tests. The lab is located along Ringe Close, Bukoto-Kampala. We offer a range of services including COVID-19 testing, stat draws, critical timed sensitive draws, cancer screening, cholesterol testing, medication level testing, thyroid testing, routine draws, timed antibiotic testing, glucose level testing, and more!
We are scaling up our operations and would like to recruit, immediately, a competent and experienced medical laboratory technologist to be part of the growing team of professionals at JHSL.
Medical Laboratory Technologist Job Responsibilities:
- Perform lab tests as per the professional protocols spelled by the ministry and log results
- Study all specicimens to establish their validity the first few minittes of their delivery/ collection
- Work colosely with management and other departments for recollection of “rejected” specimens
- Constantly check lab equipment to ensure that they are in good condition and inform management of any faults
- Verify all test results and ensure that they are correctly matched with the specimen
- Take good records within the lab: lebel specimen correctly and produce results as required
Work Hours & Benefits:
Typically, this is an 8-hour/day position but will be determined once hired.
Medical Lab Technologist Qualifications / Skills:
● Time management
● Good team working skills
● Integrity
● Confidentiality
● Excellent written and spoken communication (fluent in English) and Luganda would be an added advantage.
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
● A bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory technology course or a similar discipline
● The ability to work with modern laboratory equipment is a must.
● MUST be good with Microsoft Office packages.
